Causes of Jaw Pain When Chewing


Jaw pain is varying harrowing because it causes excessive discomfort while chewing. When you have excessive pain you should not wait for finding out the real cause. You should attend to the problem immediately. There are several reasons why the jaw pains when we chew.

TMJ disorders are the types of disorders that affect the joints and the muscles present in the jaw. So while chewing the jaws hurt because these muscles are connecting the entire jaw. This kind of jaw pain occurs on both the sides of the face. However, not much known is about why the jaw hurts when someone is chewing food.

There are several precursors for the pain like stress and even orthodontic braces. Sometimes the braces may be applying pressure at the wrong place because they have moved so they start causing pain. Constant tooth grinding also leads to jaw pain. A bad posture and diseases like arthritis can cause jaw pain constantly. If you have had an injury recently, then the jaw might be dislocated or fractured which is even worse. If you have taken a severe blow on your face, then it is highly likely that your jaw is hurt. This is also termed as temporomandibular disorder, which means the jaw has been affected. However, the doctor can rule out an injury only by taking appropriate scans of the tooth and the jaw where it is hurting. It could be a ligament tear and sometimes, it could be a plain and simple toothache. However, first get relief for the the pain and then investigate the cause.
